Before I attempt to search through the 1 million websites that pop up when I type that into google I thought I'd ask around here!
I'm looking for somewhere around 100 a night or less. Near to Oxford Street and easy to get to all the touristy places - Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park etc.
Any recommendations are very, very much appreciated.
There is one right opposite Eros in Picadilly (right near where you have mentioned) called something like Prince Royal, Royal Prince. Regent Prince, Prince Regent Ahhhhh something like that Sorry I can not find it
You can not miss it. Come out of Burger King and turn right. Cross over a small side road it it is there. a whopping great hotel. It is about 70 quid for a double. and quite a nice room to.
Yeah I just tried lastminute.com but it's not so cheap and the website was frustrating me.
Where is Marble Arch? Found a Thistle for a hundred quid. It says its near oxford street but I've never heard of Marble Arch so I don't know.
Marble Arch is the start of Oxford Street (West side). It is also on the corner of Hyde Park and Park Lane (roughly). Very nice paryt of London and very central.
Its not far but I would have said its a bit of walk, especially with shopping. Marble Arch is at Hyde Park corner which is at the bottom of Piccadilly. That runs parallel with Oxford Street, but like I said a bit a walk. You could find somewhere nearer I'm sure. Try posting any hotwel address you find into www.streetmap.co.uk (if gives you the option to select "London Street" and you'll see where it is in relation to everywhere else. I stayed in a good cheap one at Piccaddilly Circus a little while ago. If I can find it, I'll post you the the name.
London is confusing. What area should I be looking for? Marble arch or Victoria? Arggghh so many places.
I mean I don't wanna be ON the shopping street, it'd just be nice to be near it. I'm only staying for 2 days and want to take my boyfriend to all the touristy places, he probably wont even be bothered about shopping.
All the places you have mentioned, plus a dozen more are all within walking distance of each other. How long are you staying for and do you like walking?
Victoria is near Buck House and about 25-30 mins from The proper west end (Oxford St, Soho, Eros etc)
Thinking about it, Covent Garden is perfect. Its right in the Theatre District so you could see somehtng in the evening. Its central, close to Oxford Street and has some fantastic shops itself. Travelodge is basic (i.e. not B&B) but you only need to get your head down right?
P.S. You'll love London, especially there in the heart of everything!
Covent Garden. Right. So that is near all of the things I have said I'd like to visit?
Im getting so stressed out! So many places and so many websites. I have been to London once before and stayed by the Royal Albert Hall and didn't mind getting the tube everywhere, I kinda liked it actually.
may I recommend a traditional "Pie and mash" in the oldest shop in London (Tower Bridge Road shop)
It is a fair track from what you mention but near to Tower Bridge (the one that goes up and down) and The Monument, St Pauls Cathederal, and The London Dungeons.
Pie Mash and liquor for about 3.50. Great stuff!!!!
