Happy New Year....!!
The boyf has proposed (yeay) and we are starting to plan the wedding...
We are looking at Thailand for the wedding with about 20 guests... and then to Bali for a honeymoon...
Has anyone any experience of these Countries and/or marrying abroad.. or could you recommend any hotels..

Who will pay for the guests to go to Thailand ?
If you expect them to pay are you sure they want to go there, and can afford it ?
I would not be too happy if one of my close relatives expected me to pay for my family to go to Thailand for their wedding.
Why not get married in the UK and have a honeymoon in Thailand.

I said Yes..... although I nearly fell off my chair with the shock.... !!
As for the family they have always known that if I was ever to marry that it would be abroad and they are all fully aware that they will have to pay for themselves...
That's why I want somewhere where there will be something for everyone for the wedding and then we will go off to somewhere more exclusive for the honeymoon - alone of course !!

Congratulations!
With regards to your wedding in Thailand, I would recommend that you look at getting married in Phuket. There are 4 hotels / resorts that I know of who perform weddings on a regular basis. The first is the Amari Coral (Patong Beach), next is Kata Beach Resort on Kata Beach, then Karon Beach Resort on Karon Beach and then the Centara Kata Beach Resort, which is also on Kata Beach. All four of these hotels offer "wedding packages", which cover you for the basics with the option of adding on your preferred extas - i.e. photos, wedding cake etc...
The above hotels perform what is known as a "blessings ceremony" so it is not a legal ceremony. You may need to have a civil ceremony prior to your departure for your government to recognise the marriage.
As for your honeymoon to Bali, I can recommend the Aston Bali Resort and the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel. Both are great value for money and ideal for honeymooners!
Best of luck !
