What do you do if you are stranded on a desert island?

Not sure if this is the right area for this question, but it is most certainly a destination. What do you do if you are stranded on a desert island? The first thing to do is to put piles of stones to form the letters S.O.S. in the sand, and then build a fire to light when you see a ship or plane in the distance. I know that the distance to the horizon is only 30 miles, so any ship further than that would not see you.

Has anyone here had this experience, and how did you get away?

Thanks for all your ever helpful answers, folks. I would also like to know if you lit a fire at night, or in the day would the heat signature be seen from a spy satellite? I know that they can read the paper headlines from up in space, but would they be looking out for castaways like us stranded ABers?

I got stranded on a desert island.. Luckily the person we got stranded with had a boat. Still a scary and very bizarre experience.

I'd walk around to the pub and order a pint. Around here so many have closed, you think that you are on a desert island.
