I have just booke flights though Air France to Cambodia and to get thenm the cheapest price I had to Make them non changeable or refundable. Is this the new thing? I was quite hessitant to do it but in my life I have only ever missed one flight so I thought it was OK. Should I be worried? What if I am in a traffic jam and I miss the flight?

You won't be able to change them or get a refund.
I didn't think they were refundable anyway.
If you miss the flight you will lose your money, whatever the reason. Make sure you leave well before you have to, even if it means hanging around the airport for a few hours.
Hello gravy.

You can't have it both ways. You wanted the cheapest price which will have some restrictions attached to it. If you needed greater flexibility perhaps you should have paid for it... after all, according to your previous recent threads you're minted ;-p
The more flexible the ticket, the more expensive it is. If you actually buy a full fare econonmy ticket (ususally for sale very near to the flight) they are nearly as expensive as Business Class. The cheaper the ticket, the more fixed. Most people work on the theory that if anything goes wrong nearer the time and they can`t fly, they use their travel insurance to sort it out.
Why not take out Post Office travel insurance? It covers you from the minute you leave home to the minute you get back, so if you were stuck in a traffic jam and missed your flight then you would be covered by your insurance. In fact it covers you for all sorts of reason why you can't go (eg if your employer is ill and requires you to stay at work), so you should go down your local Post Office and get yourself covered asap.
