How To Get To Cities In Netherlands From Hull.?

HI I WANT TO TRAVEL TO NETHERLANDS FROM HULL AS A WALK ON PASSENGER AND THEN TRAVEL ON TO AMSTERDAM. I THINK THE BOAT DOCKS IN ROTTERDAM. DOES ANYBODY KNOW A TELEPHONE NUMBER I CAN ASK FOR INFORMATION ON GETTING TO AMSTERDAM FROM ROTTERDAM BY BUS OR TRAIN.? THANKS.

Be warned: Rotterdam Europoort, where the ferry docks, is absolutely nowhere near to Rotterdam Centraal station! It's about 24 miles away!

The usual way to get from the port to the station is to use P&O's own bus service, which you MUST pre-book. (It's in the 'add-ons' section on P&O's website). However the website doesn't seem to be accepting ANY bookings on that route at the moment. So I'm left wondering if the service has been suspended? (Try a phone call to 01304 448888 to get a definitive answer on that).

Once their though the trams are superb, I love Amsterdam ;-) No Idea by train though as we've flown Leeds/Bradford.

If you come unstuck with ferry travel, remember that KLM fly direct from Humberside Airport to Amsterdam, with return fares typically around £150. (As I seem to recall that you're in Sheffield, I'll also mention that KLM fly to Amsterdam from Manchester, as does easyJet).

^^^ In which case, I think that I've answered your question.

If you can get the P&O website to play ball, and actually allow you to make a booking, you need to ensure that you use the 'add-ons' option to book the bus service between the port and Rotterdam Central. Then it's an easy hop on the train.

However, irrespective of any sample dates that I entered on the website, it kept telling me that there were no bookings available. I hope that you'll have more luck than me:

PS. A belated reply regarding your post about possibly moving to Liverpool:
In my opinion, it would very much depend upon which part of Liverpool that you were thinking of moving to. As an analogy, if someone said to me that they were thinking of moving to Sheffield and that they were considering a house in somewhere like Page Hall or Fir Vale, I'd probably advise them to think again. However if they were considering Fulwood, Ranmoor, Totley or Loxley, I'd definitely suggest that they should go ahead.

Have you considered the journey by train if you don’t want to fly? You could get the train to st Pancras, the Eurostar to Brussels then the Thalys to Amsterdam.

If you can't get the Hull to Rotterdam route to work for you, consider the overnight sailing from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. Advance tickets from Sheffield to Harwich International station (which is right alongside the ferry) start from £30, including the Underground transfer from London St Pancras to Liverpool Street. When you arrive at the Hook of Holland, there's a direct rail service to Amsterdam.
