New National Bus Pass -over 60s - April 2008

Would it be possible to travel from Lands End to John O'Groats using a network of 'local' qualifying buses? It is my understanding that longer distance inter-town/city buses are not eligible.

Just found out that bus pass not valid in Scotland or Wales. Change question to 'Carlisle to Dover'

The answer is yes - I'm sure it is possible using a series of local buses. It will probably take several days though and there could be the need to go the long way round in some areas.

And Stagecoach run local buses in many areas of the country on which the passes are valid. In a pickle is confusing them with National Express

I see that there are a couple of ladies travelling from Berwick-On-Tweed to Lands End using their new bus passes. They reckon it will take them 12 days!

A Guardian journalist and his pensioner father travelled from Penzance (Lands End wouldn't have been much of a problem) to Carlisle in 4 days - report in today's edition.
