Does anyone know how to get from Venice (or anywhere in Italy) back to Portsmouth, UK (or anywhere in UK)...!! This needs to be CHEAP!! My parents have gone to Crete for their first ever foreign holiday and my father (65) is refusing to get back on the plane. They can get a ferry to Italy and it seems they can do an overnight sleeper to Paris, then Eurostar to UK...at minimum cost of 500...does anyone have any cheaper suggestions please??

the italian booking site requires a log-in, but the fare from London to Venice is 81.00, so fare in the other direction is likely to be similar.
There is plenty of train service from Venice to the UK, via calais/dover etc. Venice to Rome, Rome to Paris to Calais, ferry to Dover, then train to London.
