With winds predominantly from the west, southbound flights departing from East Midlands airport are routed midway between Burton-upon-Trent and Loughborough, midway between Tamworth and Leicester, and then over Nuneaton.
With winds predominantly from the east, southbound flights are routed to the east of Loughborough and then to the west of Leicester.
Thereafter, they'll probably fly as close to a 'straight line route' as is possible using recognised air traffic corridors.
