to go for a picnic with the Major (old guy neighbour who's a sweetie) Leah, (the lady from whom I got Kiltie) the doggies and me bringing up the rear in a borrowed wheelchair.
We're borrowing the garage owners people carrier so there's plenty of room for all. Hubby's driving obviously, he suggested Stratford which is fine, but I just wondered if anybody knew of somewhere different.

What side of Birmingham are you? Depending on the side of Birmingham you are (North, South, East, West) it makes it easier to suggest things.

I see a wheelchair is involved so that limits it a bit.

Stratford is nice but it can be very busy, and also parking may be expensive. Though it will be wheelchair friendly.

I would suggest Lickey Hills, Clent Hills and Malvern Hills but not sure how they would be with a wheelchair.

How about Sutton Park?

Cannock Chase?

The National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas? The Major may like that (if he was a Major). There are 150 acres of trees and gardens.

There's nothing wrong with Birmingham, Zeuhl. We have more canals than Venice (but we don't smell so bad!) More Parks than Paris (but we don't smell so bad!) A wide variety of people and cultures, a great nightlife variety, some of the best curries this side of India and Pakistan, a fantastic Chinese quarter, Two universities that have done ground-breaking world recognised work in the areas of medicine and engineering, the best Accident Trauma unit in the country, and the most money efficient council. Plus we have spawned some of the best music makers! Stevie Winward, bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, UB40...

I'm taking smoked salmon, home cooked ham, and some of hubby's nice cheeses, Coronation chicken, buttered rolls, and a prawn and asparagus quiche. I've also made flapjacks, (soft chewy ones) and a lemon sultana and cherry cake. a bottle of nice Prosecco will stay nicely chilled in the cold box, and I fill the Thermos flasks with boiling water to make fresh tea of coffee hopefully the weather will be good wherever we end up - I'll email my hubby with suggestions and let him take his pick.
