helicopter.

seriously, driving or public transport?
Question Author
driving from hartlepool to watford then public transport to wembley for the england v wales match
if you can get to Watford underground station you can go straight through to Wembley Park on the Metropolitan line.
Get to watford underground station, the Metropolitan line all the way to Wembley Park, no change needed and all overground!
Nothing more to add except to wish you a good journey - leave an extra hour for congestion and you'll be comfortably in time.
Question Author
so am i correct in thinking the metropolitan line runs from watford junction?
Why is everyone doing it the hard way?

If you're at Watford Junction there's no need to get to Watford Underground station (which is nearly 1½ miles away!). Simply hop on a London Overground train to Wembley Central station. Timetable here:

It's then an easy walk to the stadium.

Chris
it's at least a mile from Wembley Central to Wembley Park.
It's still better to walk from Wembley Central to the stadium than it is to get from one side of Watford to the other!

Wembley Central is one of the three stations which serves Wembley Stadium:

if it's a Saturday, walking through Wembley High Street would be an effort.
Question Author
dont mind going to wembley central, done charing cross to wembley central on saturday.
fair enough.

Chris, I know this is your site, but one side of Watford to the other is not a mile.
Sara,
I admit to googling the distance between Watford Junction and Watford Underground (and trusting the reply on a web forum) but I have actually walked it myself, several years ago. I couldn't recall the exact time or distance but I do remember struggling with a heavy bag, on a hot day, through crowded streets, trying to find somewhere safe to cross busy roads. I certainly didn't enjoy the walk!

Anyway, given that Foreverpools has indicated that he's happy to walk from Wembley Central, it would seem pointless for him to walk across Watford.
I checked it myself. one was 1.2 miles, the other 1.4 miles.
