On the first question, I flew from both Gatwick and Stanstead when my daughter was a baby.  At Stanstead they said I could keep the seat with me all the time whereas at Gatwick I was not allowed to and I had to carry my baby in a sling.  Not sure about your 2nd question.

I can only speak to U.S. regulations, but most countries tend to be similar...

A two month old baby would be termed an infant in arms and not require a seat. The maximum age to which this applies is two years old. After that, they require a seat and a ticket.By trolley if you mean a wheeled, fold-up baby carriage, most airlines will require that you check it as baggage.... however, it can be gate checked. Meaning that you can check it just as you board the aircraft and it will then be brought to the jet-way as you deplane.  It kind of depends on the airline on which you travel, so I would certainly give them a call... Best of Luck!

The post by Clannad is spot on, if anyone should know he should. On eother point. Ask for a bulkhead seat as some airlines provide cots for the babies at the bulkhead (they do so on 747s) so the baby has somewhere to sleep.
