Flying
Fingers crossed, there is a chance that we will be able to go on holiday this year. Only problem is that I haven't flown for at least twelve years and I have no idea about the new rules for liquids and stuff in your hand luggage. I want to look in control so that I don't get the children panicking (just in case they get a case of nerves about flying). Also, what's the deal with booster seats for little people? Thanks.

Liquids have to be in a clear bag, including make-up. There are certain rules you have to follow, with regards to the size of the plastic bag and also the amount of liquids you have. This is a good link, which pretty much covers it all:

As for booster seats, do you mean for when you get there, for car hire?

A general rule of thumb - children 0 to 2 years can sit on the lap with an extension seatbelt. 6 months to 3 years can have an approved car type child seat. It must have a 3 point harness and can not be used in an aisle either adjacent to, or forwards or rear of an emergency exit. Child booster seats can be used in flight but not for take off or landing. A child restraint device (CRD) can be used from 18th months to 4 years and it a type of seatbelt that attaches to the seat.
just dont do what i did!!
had everything packed into 4 cases (2 large for cargo) and 2 trunkis for carry on kids stuff. Got to check in and one case was overweight, i was made to move stuff into other cases to juggle the weight (all in front of everyone else in queue. I grabbed what i could and shoved it wherever it would go. Case weights fine so checked them in.
get to security and make sure kids drank every bit of their juice, took ages so we were stood about for a while by security. then queued there and when kids trunkis went through i was pulled to one side so security could open bag. Yep, i had only gone and moved the heavy bags of all lotions and toiletries into the hand luggage, i blame it on being rushed and flustered!! had it all confiscated. To add to that i was then searched everywhere we went.
we didnt take any booster seats, both kids had own seats and i didnt see any other children (other than babies with the baby cribs) using car seats either.

Thanks all - not going to hire a car when we get there so can probably do without the booster seats. Going to have to keep luggage to a minimum (as husband is going to have to lug it all as I will be on crowd control I should imagine). Not actually booked a holiday yet though - but I like to be prepared.
