You need a humidor to really keep cigars in good condition ie a wooden box with controlled humidity. You can make one on the cheap by using a plastic box (sandwich box), you don't want it sealed too tightly as the cigars will 'sweat', if you have any of the rolled up cedar that you get in cigar tubes you could line it with that, and store them in the dark. If you have any that have dried out you need to put them in a separate box with a container with a tiny amount of water in it (say 5-10ml). You then want to leave this in the dark place for a week and then check the cigar by rolling it between your fingers by your ear, if it crackles then back it goes for another week, top up the water if needed.
From rolling my own cigarettes I know that tobacco can be prevented from drying out or even rehydrated by simply putting a piece of orange peel in my tobacco tin and leaving it there for a few days.
Can't say that I've tried it with cigars but why not give it a try.
