If I post a less than flattering review on trip advisor can I be done for liable? I'm not proposing to write anything less than my view, including that the staff are rude and unprofessional. Thought I should check before I actually submit my review. Thanks.

Hi, I can't see any problem with posting it as there are many worse ones than that on TripAdvisor. It is your opinion on what you thought of the place and it's staff so nothing wrong with that.
Having looked on Trip Advisor I notice a lot of the over the top comments for this place are from people who have only ever given one review, and they joined the day they did the review.

This looks very suspicious and sounds like friends/relatives/owner are posting reviews.

You can always report them to Trip Advisor (there is a report button) and they will remove any suspicious ones.
Looking in more details at the Trip Advisor reviews, I notice there are two really bad reviews on 15th May and 23rd May.

This is then followed by 3 "glowing" reviews on 23rd May, 24th May and 26th May, all by single posters who joined TA the same day.

Very very suspicious.

Hi VHG - they are really stupid as well as they list their home town as Wells which is where the caves are!
I have posted a few reviews on trip advisor, good and bad. I always try to be balanced when posting reviews and mention positive things as well as the negative, this makes the review more believable than if is is all bad or good. If you really cannot find anything good at all to say, then as buenchico advises, back up your comments with the good sound reasons why you have given the bad review. I once stayed in a very poor hotel and after posting my review on tripadvisor, was contacted by a viewer to say that she had cancelled her stay with the hotel on the strength of my comments! So I felt I had done my good deed for the day!
You are telling how you found it Sherrardk, the truth, I have written on Trip Advisor a few times, & the site is from people that have their views the peoples views make the site interesting & helpfull.
