does anyone know of any really good new year breaks, with plenty of things to do ( entertainment etc ) We have 2 children aged 12 and 9 and would love to take them aay for a short break at that time, either in this country or abroad.

I would throughly recommend New York City over new year.

There is plenty to do and see for both you and your children - such as the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular, ice skating at the Rockefeller Centre, etc. - and Christmas will still be in full swing in all of the shops.
