Florida Beach Resort

Any recommendations for a gulf coast beach resort in florida suitable for a family holiday - we are spending 2 weeks in orlando and want to spend a week relaxing at the beach but dont know which is the best place to go.

Sanibel and Captiva.

Clearwater is beautiful so is St Petersburg both popular resorts. I have stayed in both and also at Madeira Beach and Indian Shores which are a lot quieter than the others with less Brits.

Oh don't go to the Atlantic coast, the gulf coast is much better.

I used to like going to Ft Lauderdale or Lauderdale By The Sea but they are on the other coast. Really good beaches though.
