Failed my driving test today, absolutely gutted
27 Answers
So I get half way through my driving test today and everything is going great, no minors or anything and I get to a box injunction in the middle of the town and my exit was clear so I went but a car came around the bend opposite me speeding through a red light and I get failed for it.
How is this my fault, he broke the law and my exit was clear.
I got 0 minors

I failed mine first time because the examiner yelled "look at that" and I nearly jumped out of my skin, braked hard - I thought there was something on the road I hadn't spotted.
The git was watching some bloke on a rid-on mower cutting his grass - not sure why he thought I should look...
I was soooooo pee'd off at him.
Good luck next time.

more than likely, it was the way you reacted to the incident that worried him/her. I would ask......sometimes incidents can be a real boon though. I remember that I had to hit my brakes hard when a ball bounced out into the middle of a housing estate road and a kid followed, his mother just grabbing him on the kerb. The fact that I was well and truly stopped probably helped me through.
Just put it behind you, chalk it up to experience, and good luck for the next time....

It sounds as though the examiner didn't think you reacted appropriately or quickly enough to someone shooting a red light. We don't drive on the assumption that nobody will do such things; and someone crossing on red is something you'd be looking for, as it happens quite often;so the fact that the other driver was breaking the law is irrelevant to whether you met the standards required.
