Same thing happened to my parents who've just returned from Lloret de Mar; bearing in mind my mum's ill with cancer & can't sleep well, it didn't help.

It's probably a mix of cheap booze and the "I'm-on-holiday-and-don't-give-a-damn" attitude - which is why I avoid the usual Brits-on-the-p*ss places like Benidorm, the Balearics, Aiya Napa, etc. and pick somewhere more restrained and cultured.

My advice Hopalong is to s*d the expense and go 4*+ hotel in a place where 'oldies' tend to visit. Not always guaranteed of course, but I have found that scumbags/screaming kids/p*ssheads dont want to shell out on top notch accomodation and you'll be left in peace.
Try and choose a resort that the (young) Brits don't like.I suppose that's just anywhere that doesn't have cheap booze! LOL

I always opt for a high floor. The top floor means you get little passing traffic and no one walking around over the top of you. The slight inconvenience of using the lift or stairs is worth it.I am mobility impaired and I still would rather do this than listen all night to the rabble.

I agree that you can try to counteract it with trying to pick resorts/hotels aimed at oldies but you do want to have a good time yourself and if cost is an issue you may not have any choice.

Ask for a quiet room at time of booking, much better than a pool view!

Ask the travel agent for their advice as well.
