She says that in Business class they give out nice cosy socks (so not flight socks) and in First Class they give out slippers aswell. Economy is on request, so you get a little pouch with slippers and eye mask. Also on request is toothbrush and toothpaste.
I wouldn`t worry too much about the flight socks. Get yourself an aisle seat so that you can get up and have a walk around once in a while. When you are sitting in your seat you can rotate your ankles every now and again which will get the blood flowing. I`m not sure how effective flight socks are to be honest. Our Aviation Medicine department doesn`t seem to have a really strong view on them TBH which means they are a "nice to have" but not a "must have"
The thing is, "Economy Class Syndrome became a buzzword in the press and not an awful lot was known about it in those days. Then more was known about it and it became not about travelling on aircraft but being stationary in a seat (whether that was a seat on an aircraft, bus, train or at home). The DVT risk seems to arise when there is pressure on the underside of the thighs between the knee and the hip. Pressure in that area can impede the flow of blood into the lower legs so in that instance, flight socks won`t make much difference. If you can raise your legs a little while you are sitting in your aircraft seat, you will take the pressure of the back of your thighs and help the blood flow to your lower legs.
You should be able to take toothpaste on the plane, as long as it's not more than 100ml and it's in a resealable plastic bag
