We're thinking of taking a short break in this area to visit Hampton Court, The Thames, Kew Gardens etc. We'll be on public transport and cannot decide between Teddington and Kingston upon Thames.

It'll just a couple of nights in the Travelodge. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of either areas and which is better for meals in the evenings and walks by the river?

ps. I agree with Ladybirder re transport. Both Kew gardens and Hampton Court can be accessed more easily by public transport from Kingston which has two main bus termini (one in Fairfield North and the other in Cromwell Rd).

Thanks answerprancer, so much to do we'll have to stay even longer!

I've added "Out of Order" and the Landmark Arts Centre to my list of things to do.
And the cuban cigar shop in Teddington is near Charm Thai ! I wouldn't recommend going to Options nightclub in Kingston, bit rough. Sit in the pub opposite and people watch the guys and gals before they venture out clubbing, that's a cabaret in itself ..
The pub opposite is a Wetherspoons, nice and cheap, but I wouldn't recommend an evening there, you see some right characters there during the day, I often pop in there after a day's shopping.
I agree with you re Options, come to think of it - specially after that stabbing :-(
I think Wetherspoons would be OK in the evening, on a Friday or Saturday but you have to have an open mind - just to watch the clubbers swigging back jugs of booze before going to Options ...
Maydup dont forget the Tesco vouchers for Hampton Court. Not sure if you can use them for Kew Gardens ?
