Are you going to hopefully meet someone or you just want a holiday, and prefer to be on your own, or is nobody free to go with you at the moment??
I suggest that you go on your own - I have been doing it for years and the joy of being able to be totally selfish is amazing. Get up when you want, have a nice lunch in a restaurant with lots of families, and you won't feel awkward or nervous, and have a snack in a coffee bar/ sandwich in the evening.
Travel lightly, hand luggage is best. Take a travel kettle and adapter if you can fit it in, and with fruit, digestive biscuits and a fruit tea you can be self sufficient for breakfast.
Most countries are used to British visitors, but Holland is particularly welcoming. A few days in Amsterdam will be a great start to to travelling alone and not being reliant on anyone.
Make a copy of all relevant documents, passport, insurance and leave the originals in the hotel safe with a back-up credit card. Don't carry a lot of cash, but have a few euros/pounds in a safe pocket.
Take note of contact numbers for phone and credit card cancellations and keep safe.
In all the years of travelling I have never had a problem (I'm 62) but always felt better having a 'support line'.
Take a chance, go alone, and you won't regret it.
