Currently looking at Nimes, any other suggestions and also do the flights get cheaper closer to the date (thinking end of August 2013) or should we book now!!!! I looked around and am now going from Gatwick to Montpellier with Sleazyjet for £370.
We had also considered the Eurostar then TGV, unsure if that's an option for you though?

Just a quick postscript ('cos I was rushing to post before AB went down for maintenance at 2100 when I posted yesterday):
Montpelier Airport is served by easyJet from Gatwick and (seasonally) from Luton. Ryanair fly there (seasonally) from Birmingham and Leeds/Bradford.
It takes around 6 hours to get from St Pancras International to Avignon by train with a transfer between Gare du Nord and Gare du Lyon in Paris. However between 6 July and 31 August there's a non-stop direct train, in each direction, on Saturdays. (It also runs inbound on 7 September). Return fares are usually between about £140 and £200.
