Thomson Hand Luggage Dimensions

Hi all, hoping someone can help...

I am travelling to the Caribbean with Thomson Airways on Wednesday. They state that hand luggage must not be more than 55 x 40 x 20. Most airlines (I believe) are 55 x 40 x 25.
My hand luggage is nearer the second measurement (24cm).

Am I likely to have to pay a surcharge as the bag is larger than allowed or will it be OK? I travel extensively on other airlines and haven't had a problem.

Many thanks

The size restrictions on luggage are usually associated with the type of aircraft used (because the size of luggage lockers varies). It's common, for example, for airlines using 737-800 aircraft [such as Ryanair] to have a 55 x 40 x 20 restriction. If you turn up with an over-sized bag you may be forced to have it placed in the hold (with the possibility of a hefty charge) or, if luggage loading has already been completed, to leave the bag behind.

Don't risk it!

Thanks for your advice. I will play safe and use a smaller bag.

Easyjet too have recently revised their hand luggage size allowance.
I'm taking a 17" laptop bag as mine, it's just within range, if that information is useful to anyone taking theirs.
