Hotel Barcelona - Gothic Quarter Or Ramblas
9 Answers
Can anyone recommend a traditional, reasonably priced hotel in one of the above 2 areas of Barcelona please? Cost wise, looking at £100 per night per double room max. Don't need pool. gym etc - just comfy bed and decent breakfast!

It is a second floor walkup but close to everything including an ATM just out of the front door. Can't remember the address, but just google Hotel California Barcelona Espana. The last time I stayed there, the rate for a double was about $86 euros.
Hotel Ingles, just off the top of Las Ramblas, top breakfast;

If you feel like pushing the boat out then the "boutique" Hotel Jazz, over the road from the Ingles, is excellent but not cheap;

Both are just 5 minute walk from Plaza de Catalunya, where the A1/A2 Airport bus drops you.

If you are after something cheapish with zany decor(!), a free 24 hr buffet including drinks, try the Hotel Continental at the top of Las Ramblas

If you want somewhere a bit quieter, try the sister hotel, the Continental Palacete which is about 400 yds north of Placa de Catalunya

We stayed at the palacete for 4 days. Good basic food, you could take bottles of water away for days out. Ok, so the chairs in the 'dining area' are patio chairs with loose covers on, but its a great little quirky place! Be aware, both hotels are on 1st floor. There is a lift, but you still have to go up about 12 steps to it, so might not be great if you have mobility issues. I'd go there again no problem.
