Using local bus services you need to do it in 3 stages:
Start with the X4, from Stop E on Edinburgh Road by the Guildhall, to Southampton, alighting at Castle Way.
Then you've got a bit of a hike across the city centre to the SeaCity Museum stop on Havelock Road. (Stop AL). From there, Service 6 takes you to Lymington Post Office.
From there the X1 or X2 will take you to Bournemouth.
To go directly you need to use National Express service 206, which runs from The Hard Interchange (Stop A) 8 times per day.
