Courier Flights

I apologise if I've already posted this question in the past, but I don't think I have.

Does anyone out there have any experience with courier flights?  The flights to the USA and Canada seem to be horrendously expensive for Nov/Dec compared to the last few years (the increase in oil prices I guess) and I'm trying to find a cheap way of travelling there, short of hanging onto the wheels of the plane. I know taking a courier flight doesn't knock loads off the price, but are they worth all the bother?  Thanks for your answers.

If you book by phone with your credit card you will have to pay credit card charges. Just pay the deposit and send them a cheque for the rest and you will save money
I've been looking into this myself, with very little luck.  It seems most courier businesses stopped after 9/11.  The only routes you can still find courier routes on are to Hong Kong and from London
