Can you check in your hold luggage the day before flight with easy jet?

Thael agent said we could but I can't find anything on the easy jet web site.

No! You have to check in online with Easyjet now but if you have hold luggage you still have to go to the bag-drop when you turn up at the airport for your flight. You can't do that the day before. Make sure you leave plenty of time to do this as the queue can be horrendous. We recently queued for 40 minutes at Gatwick to drop off one bag!

easyJet operates a night check-in service at Gatwick only, allowing passengers with flights before 0830 to leave their hold luggage at the bag drop desk between 2000 and 2400 on the previous day:

We are flying out at 6.30am and staying over at The Russ Hotel the night before so will definately take the bags in the night before :)

It says on the link that flights before 8am are from the south terminal but ours is from the north!!!

It is a package and we have one hold bag each in the package but everywhere I look on their site says there is a charge for hold luggage so getting a bit twitchy lol

It should be clearly stated on your package details that you have one checked-in bag included. I've done a couple of packages with EasyJet as the carrier. Hold baggage was included and there was no problem.

Knowing how easy it is for airlines to lose your baggage, I would hang on to then until the last minute cassa333 !

Reminds me of the story about the chap that arrived at the Heathrow check-in desk with three suitcases, for a flight to America. He told the airline that he wanted the red case to go to Capetown, the blue one to Moscow and the green one to Majorca.

"I'm not sure that we can do that sir" the check-in girl said in a puzzled voice"

"Don't see why not" the chap replied " you did it the last bl**dy time I flew with you ! "

Does anyone know if there is a short stay car park at the north terminal when we check our baggage in and then have to drive to the hotel please?

How long does it normaly take to check them in and about how much will be the car park while we check the bags in?

I am assuming we check our baggage in at the north termial as that is where we are flying from lol

Easyjet tend to trial new policies in a small number of airports (usually a base) and then decide whether to expand out to all airports based on profitability and passenger feedback.
The overnight bag drop is such a policy, available only at gatwick at the moment if you have a particularly early flight.
This, for a company that now has a huge european network breeds some inconsistency (i.e "well I was allowed to do that in Gatwick etc" )

EasyJet are fine about this at Gatwick, we've done the late night bag drop for some years now, as we tend to be on a 6am flight, so drop the bag(s) off any time after 8pm the night before. Means that we can go straight to Departures first thing in the morning, without having to join the baggage queue.

You do get charged if you are overweight (your baggage, that is, not the passenger) and you can only take one bag on board (so handbag goes in the hand luggage) but I know of no hidden charges, they are all clearly laid out.

How long it takes to drop your bag depends entirely on how many people are ahead of you in the queue - we usually go over at 8pm and there are only two or three people there ahead of us. You need to take your flight details and your passports with you - the process is exactly the same as if you were checking your bags in on departure, they give you your boarding cards and the luggage receipt when you hand over your luggage.

May be obvious but don't forget you will have to put any toiletries etc that won't be accepted as carry-on in your cases when you check them in the night before and do without for the hotel night.

PS if you have to go to the other terminal to do the bag drop, just take the maglev shuttle between the two terminals - no need to park separately.

Good point, prudie - we buy mini toiletries (toothpaste, deodorant) just for that night, and leave them in the hotel when we leave, or include them in our 5 items under 100ml that we are allowed to take through in hand baggage.

Just looked at the link and found the short stay car park *** expensive. £10 for up to 2 hrs :-0 Even the high priced ones round here are only about £3 for 2 hr!!

We only want to go in drop the bags and go for goodness sake lol

I suppose you could consider going to the free passenger drop off area, one going in with a bag while the other pootles about in the car, returning and swapping (if you can both drive)

Spoke to someone at Holiday Extras yesterday and he said we could go to the drop and go car park for 2hrs to drop the bags off £7.99

Phoned them this morning to book and was told it isn't something they can offer and he shouldn't have said it. :(

Oh well, back to the taking it in turns idea :)
