Booking flights in the US

It would seem to be cheaper for own US friends to fly to Britain than for the Brits to fly to the US.

Could our friends in San Francisco (who we are staying with next year) book flights for us? Are there any legal consequences?

Would appreciate any help!

im not sure of the legalities of it all but i cant see that there would be any problems! im sure you can book your flights through different american sites on the internet yourself. i have never done it but have looked at a few sites and thought about doing it as like you say it is cheaper. maybe your friends in the states could talk to a local travel agent over there and see if they can help, or maybe one here would be able to help. let me know how you get on, it is an interesting question and one i would like to know the answer to for future reference. good luck

Anybody may buy any number of airline tickets for any number of different people. They just need to ensure the correct names are on the tickets.

I regularly fly to the US and my tickets are always purchased by my friend there and sent to me, this year I simply printed off my e-ticket before I left for the airport, no problems what-so-ever!

I have tried booking using US sites and had difficulty using a UK credit card via the US site. I also have this problem in the USA when buying tickets at airports. It is usually best to shop around carefully. It may well be that the security issues are making life for all foreigners more difficult when trying to fly.
