Ferries To Jersey

I'm thinking of going to Jersey for a few days, and would like to go by ferry as I have a dreadful fear of flying (yes, I know all the reasoned answers and I have had hypnotherapy).
My question is, I shall be on foot, so will I need to book in advance? It will probably be late afternoon on a weekday.

Condor Ferries prefer all customers to book in advance but, subject to capacity (which is unlikely to be a problem for foot passengers), tickets are sold at the port up to 1 hour before departure. Foot passengers are required to check in at least 40 minutes prior to departure.

Thank you both. I looked at Condor and was amazed to see that it takes such a long time to get there. Beginning to have second thoughts now.

Well it's roughly 100 miles, which is nearly 5 times as far as the Dover-Calais crossing, so it's bound to take a while!

it only takes just over an hour by plane :)
failing that, there is a fast boat from weymouth

actualyl it is over 110 miles if you avoid the rocky bits. Condor will only allow on foot passengers if there is seating available. My tip is to go club class, you get a leather recliner in a small quiet lounge and when I last used it free coffee and croissants when you board plus free fruit juice during the crossing. Each seat has a table with a electrical power point if you would rather look at your laptop than out of the window. I would pay a bit more and go to St. Malo.
