Texting Bali

My daughter is at present in Bali. She has her UK Mobile with her is there a code I can put in front of her number so as I can text her for her to receive the message.

Assuming she has her UK SIM card in her phone, just text her as normal and it should arrive.

Her service provider will know where she has roamed, they have to pass this information between them in order to direct calls and texts to the right phone.

As Ellipis has mentioned, just text her number, they'll find her if she in on a local Bali network.

Thanks for the answers. It was my sister's 50th wedding anniversary today. She lives in Oz so my daughter and hubby flew out to Bali where my Little Sis and family were celebrating. Alas health problems prevented me going but thro a text I was able to Skype them which was brilliant. Thanks again. If I were to phone using my mobile would it be any dearer than ringing them in the UK.

yes it would, and would also cost her.

Whilst I'd be surprised if it cost the caller more (in the UK mobiles have been allocated a number range and don't suffer the idiocy of getting unexpected additional costs simply because of where the called mobile has moved) the additional cost for international traffic is charged to the called mobile because it's that which has caused the extra cost by roaming.

It would cost you the same to call her mobile in Bali as if she was in the UK.

But, additionally, it would cost HER to receive the call. This could be quite expensive as calls go, say a few pounds for a call lasting a few minutes. However, for somebody who can afford to go to Bali in the first place, not a big problem!
