Hi all. Can anyone tell me if Mastercard or visa are most popular in Florida USA? I'm looking into prepaid card for use over there and want to make sure I'm not going to be taking something I won't be able to use in stores and restaurants. Any recommendations or advice please?

We used a pre-paid MasterCard when we went in June.
There's no problem with Visa, it's accepted everywhere.
I have used a prepaid VISA card with no problems in the US.
Not in Florida, but I do not think you should have any trouble with either.
shouldn't be a problem either way. They also accept Amex more regularly than in Britain.
Visa and Mastercard are equally accepted here by nearly all businesses. American Express is not as widely accepted as it once was.
is that right, Clanad? Why is that? (I had no trouble with it when I last visited in summer.)
Jno - more retailers are latching onto the ridiculous higher charges AMEX impose on them. Quite right too..
it's always been thus, though, buildersmate; I was just wondering why they've decided now that they've had enough? Not saying I blame them. Amex is no better or worse than any other credit card, so there seems no point in charging more than otehrs.
Get yourself a Halifax credit card. NO charges for using it, Exchange rate NOT tourist rate, and low, low interest charges if you take cash out of a machine. Even better if you want cash, prepay on the card.
Both are widely taken. I took a post office travel money card (which is mastercard) and it was accepted everywhere. Also used Visa banks card when out without issue (although bank charges were higher than the travel cards)
