Visa Application With Criminal Record For Australia ?
Hi,
When I was 18 I received a caution for handling stolen goods and a suspended prison scentence for GBH sec 20 wounding without intent (stupid bar fight) I received a 5 month suspended scentence for the fight.
I have been in not trouble since the incident and it has been over 4 years, I am applying for a visa to Australia for a working holiday - will these convictions prevent me from obtaining one ?

This website has mountains of info in regard to coming here.
If in doubt contact the Aust. Consulate in you country and ask.
Good luck, if you get here you may not want to go home ;-)

A relative of mine was woke up by 3 men burgling his house. He had 3 young children and he was scared for their safety and his life. But that didn't stop him from sneaking downstairs and surprising them by attacking them in the dark (fists and feet only) . All three of them needed stretchers.
He was fined guilty and charged with GBH and had to pay compensation and costs.
Some time later he decided he was going to emigrate to Oz. He was ideal candidate with his young family , plenty of money and a number of trades to offer.
He went through the application process and was turned down because of his record for having defended his family to unknown intruders. He was devastated at being rejected, because as a rule, whatever he says he is going to do, he does.
The a Australians don't take anyone they don't want and answer to no one ... it's a really pity we can't do the same in the UK
Good luck ... everyone deserves a second chance ..!

My brother is not at all well in Australia, where he emigrated to many years ago.
My nephew, his son, wanted to visit him, but they were being very difficult over a visa due to his criminal record from when he was quite a bit younger.
They wanted to know what the judge said in his summing up and other odd questions that he could not remember all this time later.
In the end I sent him a compassionate plea to send them about his situation. It worked instantly and he got his visa and went there to see his father.

Can I tell a funny story about arriving in Australia.
Go up to immigration desk. Huge female barked at me "Have you got an electronic razor?"
Me: No I havent.
She: How do you think you are going to get into Australia without an electronic razor?
I was racking my brain thinking why didnt somebody tell me about this requirement.
Next minute the penny dropped and I stuttered yes and handed her my passport at the visa page.
She was actually saying electronic visa!
