We are thinking of renting an RV to 'do' the eastern US next year. Just wondered if anyone has any experience of this and any tips, pros and cons, etc. Thanks.

Sure... thry are readily available and in many different sizes... from the more basic "cab over" (the ones with the kids bunk over the cab) to those that are truly luxurious with maybe 3 or 4 slide outs.

I live in the U.S. and have rented several of them over the years... a real convenient way to travel. Some down sides, though are always making sure you have enough room to turn around and don't pull into an area that you may not be able to back out of...

Welcome to the U.S., by the way...

Size isn't a problem(!), as I drive a Heavy Goods vehicle for a living. Do you have to stop in an 'RV park' (or just stop in a layby) and if so, any ball park figures on prices?
PS will be in the US in 4 weeks for a holiday + cruise!
Here's a respected site for all things RVing in the U.S.

Additionally, I see a lot of 'campers' using the parking lot of Walmart stores. The above website has a link to using Walmart as well as a free app to download for that puprose.

The cost for overnight trailer park sites with electricity, water and sewer hookups varies greatly... from as little as $15 nightly to over $75. Our National Parks have free sites with limited hookups and there's a link to that service as well since it usually requires reservations.

Good luck!
