Sand Flies And Mosquitos Bites
got to go to grenada in june havnt been for 17 yrs due to the amount of bites i got , i have tried everything from over counter to prescription stuff nothing works as in stopping them from biting so now wondering what best thing any of you may have used to stop the itching after being bitten ?

I'd agree with woofgang, Afterbite is also quite a good remedy although it stings at first. Sand fly bites can be minimised by not lying directly on the sand but use a sunbed instead. Keep covered or indoors at dawn and dusk too.
I've found this stuff works but I've never seen it outside Australia; it might prove a bit expensive to order

Fenistil is available on amazon, there is also an oral preparation (Fenistil drops) but they are marketed as sedative.

The best stuff I've ever used (I have, in the past, needed medical treatment on holiday for bites) is boots own brand tropical strength (in a grey bottle). Since I've been using it I've hardly been bitten at all and I've recommended it to loads of people who have said the same. It's a bit more expensive than the regular stuff in the yellow bottle, but it's worth every penny. I have tried every single thing available, to no avail. But this stuff works for me so if you haven't tried it, it might be worth a go.
