Although Tampa International Airport is located roughly 45 miles north of Anna Maria Island, some island visitors land there to take advantage of lower airfares. Taxis and limousines are available, but the distance between Tampa and Anna Maria Island might make this method of transportation cost prohibitive, depending on your budget. Greyhound (greyhound.com) runs bus service to the island, but you'll have to make your way to its downtown terminal first. Your best option is to rent a car to get to the island.
I checked one site, and it quoted $90 from Tampa airport to Anna Maria. I imagine that's around 45 pounds in your money...A lot cheaper and less hassle than renting a car, unless of course you will need a car for the rest of your vacation.
£45? I wish! Nearer £60 today.
You're right, JD; as of 9:30 this morning it's 64 pounds. Anyway, still cheaper than renting a car.

Those Interstate Highways are fantastic aren't they? And guess what: no bloody roundabouts to befuddle you!
Do we have roundabouts?? No wonder I get through tyres and shock absorbers so regularly!!

I hear tell that you have roundabouts within roundabouts. I find that quite shocking and difficult to absorb.
I've driven the I-95 to Myrtle Beach and Charleston numerous times after connecting with it from Toronto.
I believe it was near Milton Kenes there was a large RAB surrounded by about 5 smaller RABs. Must of looked like gearbox cogs from the air. The Instructors at Hendon always mischievously directed their students to this nightmare.

That's your police college isn't it? I've seen it mentioned in numerous British crime novels.
Retro the Magic Roundabout is in Hemel Hempstead and it's a *** nightmare. I've been round(and round) it a few times!

That's right. It once incorporated the Police Cadet School,Police Training School,Medical block,Detective Training School and the famous Motor Driving School with two large skid pans obstacle (course) for motobikes.Traffic Patrol Vehicle examiners block,Accident investigation school. I started as a novice driver/motorcyclist and finished up on both Advanced courses. I must of spent about 3 yrs of my 30 at Hendon on various courses not to mention anti ambush and evasion driving, firearms etc. Now Hendon is mostly vacant ghost town blocks and no driving school. :-(

That is the one. Thanks. My memory of all the thousands of miles I drove out of Hendon are dimmed.Happy days and what an opportunity to drive all sorts of vehicles. Hendon even boasted a few LHD we had to accustom ourselves with as well as coaches and HGVs.
I guess postman44 must have driven off into the sunset: I hope he's on the right side of the road.
