Friend going to Cuba ask me if she could take pork scratchings with her (why would you?), I said no idea, but I know some nice folks who probably would know.
Any ideas/advice please anyone?

direct flight, possibly, via the USA, no way.
Why not?

I've been to Cuba a number of times and never noticed any restrictions. Cuba has no particular Muslim or Jewish connections.
that rules out bringing in live pigs and scratching them, then?
Yes, but are Pork Scratchings "fresh food". Not really any different to a packet of crisps.

They are much more vile, New Judge :)
Yes. I know this as judge said 1) its not really different to a pack of crisps as its sealed, and 2) i may add i sent a whole haggis (fresh) to houston from Scotland last xmas and not an eyelid batted. Arrived fit and well and the recipient ate it-was 'delicious' x
Pork scratchings are great, but I can hardly have them more than once a year or I feel guilty about the calorie/fat content. The only ones that aren't so good is these weird puffed up soft types you can get. Countries tend to worry about bringing diseases and non-native plant life in so I would doubt there'd be much of an issue re pigskin fried to a crisp.

Failing that tell her to buy some pigskin while she is there, cut it up, and bung it in the oven until done.

Have passed on the remarks, thank you.
Pork scratchings a plenty here in Florida and that's not too far from Cuba.
Ninety miles, Sharon. But half a world away really.
Take them and declare them and you won`t get into any kind of trouble. The worst that will happen is that they will be taken off you (I doubt it though)
