Travel To Majorca, By Train ?

Is it possible to get to Majorca, from Britain, other than flying ? My brother has been told that he shouldn't fly.

I haven't slept in a Couchettes, since I was a teenager in the 60's. I thought it was the most romantic way to travel. We used them on a school trip to Switzerland when I was 13. I can still remember my first sight of the Alps, early in the morning, from the train window....100% magic !

How the Teachers got us settled for the night is anybodies guess, as we were all super-excited !

By train from Paris to Barcelona, 1 day 4 hours.....and you can't go through Barca without a little sightseeing, the Gaudi a must...some good cuisine as well.

We went up to the top of the Jungfrau, and went to Grindlewald, and Luzerne. Very heady stuff for such a young boy.

I have been back to the area a few times since 1966, and its simply wonderful. Great memories...

I've never slept in one. When I went inter- railing in Europe with a friend we had a lot of long overnight journeys in train compartments (and even sitting on the floor on some occasions) - but it was fun if not comfortable. Couldn't contemplate it now!

Sqad...according to the schedule that Toorak posted, that bit of the journey, by sleeper, takes over 12 hours.

It might be posssible to get a TGV from Paris to Barcelona that is much quicker
