Hi, has anyone been to Cape Verde recently or in the not to long past. I will be holidaying there early next year and apart from Travel/medical insurance can anyone tell me if any vaccinations or other paperwork is required. I've been told you fill in visas on the plane going there? Thanks for any tips or advice.

Talking about C/V last Sunday, as a friend of mine came back 2 weeks ago.

She went with her hubby & 2 kids, and she said the people are lovely, and very helpful towards tourist.

They are also building new hotels & casinos since the increase in tourism, the food was cheap and reminded her of Portugal, which I think was owned by them, or still is, but I dont know much about the place..

She stayed in a villa type village, with lots of pools, kiddie friendly and plenty to do, especially fishing trips.

Will try and find out more tomorrow, and let you know.

Hi. Got back from CV yesterday (Riu Touareg). Didn't have vaccinations. If you booked thru Thompson then complete the visa information to save doing it at the airport. You can do it at airport when you arrive but it's €25 each (if you did book with Thompson they will refund this at the hotel when you give them the receipt). There was also a €40 resort fee which we werent told about payable to hotel. Had a fabulous holiday great weather and wonderful people.

I didn't realise you needed a vida for CV. I'm heading there next month! Good to know there are some casinos being built, I like a bit of gamble on holiday! Thanks for the info to everyone below.

We thought that Thomson did the visa automatically until we got an email a week before saying it needed to be done. We went to Boa Vista island. There is nothing really else on that island other than a couple of hotel. Ours was in the middle on nowhere. May be more development on Sal
