Will my passport number stay the same after I renew my passport? Or will the new one have a different number? Thanks!

I have looked at my old passport and current one the numbers are very different indeed
just to note my old passport was the large one not like the small one I have now so perhaps new ones do continue with same number
Uk passports that are renewed have different numbers. You do not and cannot retain the passport number.

If it is more convienient for you, you can now renew online, as long as you haven't changed much over the last 10 years (your photo that is!). I did this last year. Simply fill in the form online, give your card details for the fee, they send you the form to sign and attach the new photo, and by return of post you get your new passport. I think mine took about 5 days altogether. http://www.ukpa.gov.uk/_1_applications/1_contents.asp
