Travelling To Japan From The Uk With A Spent Conviction Advice Please

Hi all

Im from the Uk and in 2015 i got a conviction, now spent, for harassment. Im looking to travel to Japan for upto 90 days without visa.

Does anyone know how likely it would be that theyll let me in to Japan for travel? Do they even ask?

How long does it take for a conviction to be spent?
Convictions will be removed from a criminal record after 5 years (suspended sentences, fines, and community service supplementary to a suspended sentence), 10 years (custodial sentences less than 2 years, community service) or 20 years (custodial sentences between 2–5 years).

The UK gov is not allowed to share that information outside of the EU. The Japanese immigration authorities are only interested in what you are bringing into the country (don't take any food in) etc, as most immigration is.

So don't take the remains of your picnic with you to have in your room as I did once (I don't like Japanese food)

You will have to fill in a landing card, and if I remember correctly they will ask on that if you have had any prior convictions. I would definitely ask the embassy first.

Thanks all. I may check with embassy. Ive checked online and youre right the landing card does ask about criminal convictions.
