We are going to Jersey for a few days. Do they generally accept Northern Ireland bank notes in shops and hotels? I have tried Googling this but can't seem to get a straight answer!

can't give you a definite answer either, I'm afraid, can only offer suggestions.

Change your notes in a bank in Jersey or use a debit/credit card or pay by cash and if questioned, remind them that the notes state pound sterling on them.
(some places throughout the UK can be petty. Hope you enjoy Jersey tho, have heard it's lovely)

Had a quick google ellie, and can't see anything either. If it was me, I would take some English bank notes, and use them along with my credit card. Hope you enjoy your break :)

Totally agree. Get some cash from the airport or ferryport when you arrive and have a fab time! It's many, many years since I've been to the Channel Islands and they are indeed beautiful.

NI notes are readily accepted in Scotland ellie, and vice versa. But I would still play it safe.

Went to Jersey many times, but after the struggle the first time to get our Northern Ireland notes accepted,I admitted defeat and just made sure I only had English ones. Love the place though:-)

Problem is that they can accept them but they do' NOT HAVE TO ! ' as they must accept English notes !, 90% of the time you will have no problem, but some places may refuse them !

As said ,ANY BANK will be happy to exchange them !
But I also am pretty certain you will have no problem using them !

EDDIE, as Bank of England notes are legal tender only in England and Wales, why must they be accepted in Jersey?

ALBA, the only legal tender notes in Scotland and Ulster are Bank of England notes under the value of five pounds and they've not issued any of them for yonks.

Were I a shopkeeper handed an unfamiliar note I'd be loath to take it from someone I'd never see again, as I couldn't tell if it was legit. I see that as common sense rather than pettiness. Use unfamiliar currency, expect issues.
