As you'll see, there's a cluster of them around St Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom), which is at the bottom right of square C3 on the map.

This TripAdvisor link shows hotels in that area (including how far they are from the cathedral), so it might be a good place to start your search for accommodation:

If you're seeking budget accommodation, I note that Pension Neuer Markt is shown as being far cheaper than many of the other hotels in that area but is still well reviewed. It's very close to the cathedral:

Thank you so much for that. It's not for me - it's for my sister who wants me to get her some deals plus my cousin is asking me for the same in Budapest and I just don't have the time as I have my own holiday on Friday. At least if I can get an idea of the markets in Vienna, I know where to start.
I stayed at the Hotel Ambassador a few years back and can recommend the hotel – I paid around £120/night (room only). Mrs Hymie was impressed, the rack rate (posted on the back of the room door) was over €500.

Thank you Hymie. I`ll have a look at it.
I have stayed at the kaiserin elisabeth - lovely, centrally located hotel with friendly staff and good breakfasts. It’s not cheap but nor are other hotels in the cathedral area

It’s very central for public transport which is very reasonably priced and an excellent system. I think when we were there in May we paid about 17 euros for a week’s unlimited travel on buses, underground and trams
I have also stayed at this hotel in Budapest. I can’t recall much about it other than that it was very centrally located (very near the river and main shopping area) and was much cheaper than the larger chain hotels in the vicinity and the staff were very helpful

Thank you Toorak and thanks for the links. My cousin has given up on Budapest - it's Jersey now. At least she knows where she wants to stay whereas my sister has lumped it all on me to sort out while she clears off on holiday.
