I was there March 2005 and had a great time. 2 of my friends now live there. It's quite bleak when you venture beyond the city centre because it's typically eastern block in the style of buildings etc but the centre is very picturesque in places. It gets very cold in the winter, about -30 and in the summer it's too hot, currently 35 degs. Go about April/May time. The Polish are very hospitable and generous people.
