In/near Krakow are salt mines (don't ask me to spell the name), Auschwitz and Zakopane; the cathedral where all the kings of Poland are in the vault and the Stary Rynek (old market place - just about every town in Poland has one but Krakow's is among the largest and best preserved). A smaller Prague - if you like one you'll probably like the other.
Never been to Warsaw, but I believe what dzug says. I thoroughly recommend Krakow and wish I had spent more time there to see it all. Remember that the Poles have lived under some rotten regimes in the 50 years ending in the early nineties, and some of the older ones have lost the inclination to smile at foreigners. Be nice to them and they will be nice to you.
