Changing Planes

Hi, im going on holiday tomorrow and changing planes at edinburgh. To my horror, i have just realised there is only 40 minutes between landing and taking off. I have never not had a direct flight before - do they deal with luggage or do you have to queue up, get it then check in again (domestic flights)

Airline websites normally make it quite clear what minimum connecting times are and if people chose to ignore that then it is not the airline's fault if they miss them.

hmmm, sorry i didnt answer your q up there. No wheelchair, i'm just slow, but have booked assistance.

I am flying from stornoway to southampton, which is the journey i put into the carriers website, and it gave me this option

Sorry Bednobs - got diverted from your OP by some people. If you are not travelling by wheelchair assist and there are any empty seats that you can see on your inbound aircraft it would be worth having a word with the crew to see if you can be moved nearer to the disembarking door before landing so that you can get off the aircraft quickly which would give you a better chance of making your next flight. I’ve done too many connecting flights to count.

Incl some where the changeover is short like yours.

Never missed a connecting flight (yet) and only once had my luggage delayed.

It turned up the following day tho.

What I always do is take a change of clothes in my hand luggage - just in case.

It will be worth asking for “assisted” travel so that you don’t have to walk between gates. In our experience (Husb had to travel assisted a few times ) it’s great as your whizzed thru gates in no time at all

I am closer to you than I imagined I would be wolf - we flew to stornoway but couldn't land! So we had to come back to Edinburgh.

Oops, I was going to suggest to let your airline and crew know that you are on a 'thin' transfer time.....however, I see you have been stuffed by the weather. Hopefully you are comfortable in Weegie Alba land, and there are some nice hotels in the City like the Hotel du Vin...my guess is that you are probably out at the airport though.

You’ll be fine: you certainly won’t need to check your luggage in again. Tho sometimes luggage gets sent on separately now in these days of bar codes and tracking
Edinburgh is a small airport anyway.

Yes doc, for some obscure reason they refused to put 40 if us up in the caledonian so we're at the poxy moxy instead

Not that anyone has to care but just for completeness it was the same plane. So literally got off for about 10 mins waited in a chair and then got on again.
