Parking At University Hospital, Coventry
I have an appointment here and have never been to this hospital before nor do I know the area.
I know parking at any large hospital is a nightmare so would prefer to park elsewhere and take a bus
Any suggestions for the best parking spot - not multistory. I see that Coventry does have a Park and Ride facility but as far as I can tell the bus doesn't go to the hospital

If it was me, I'd bite the bullet and use the hospital car park. (It's very easy to get to without going anywhere near to the centre of the city, which is one of my least favourite areas in the country to drive around).
If you're determined to give your plan a go though, I offer the following suggestion:
Park on the Clay Lane (surface) car park, which is just off the A4600 Walsgrave Road. (Postcode CV2 4LH. 3 hours = £2, 4 hours [max] = £5). Walk back to Walsgrave Road, turning right at the end of Clay Lane to reach the nearest bus stop (on the right-hand side of the road as you're walking). Take a 9, 9A, 17, 17A, 85A or X6 bus to the hospital from there.

As a long term resident of Coventry (albeit now relocated to more scenic climes), I agree entirely with Chris.
Although parking at the hospital is expensive, it is usually easy enough (unless you are arriving/departing at rush hours) - and all the most convenient, cheaper alternatives will have been snaffled up by staff and/or regular visitors.
Whatever you do don't park in any of the nearby Supermarkets (Asda etc) - they have some very rigorous enforcement policies and just 'nipping into the store for a few minutes' won't save you.
