My partner and I are taking his 7 yr daughter to florida - Orlando for a week and then the caribbean for a week in September. As we only have a week in Orlando I am looking for advice as to the best parks to go to ? And whether it is more cost effictive to by the passes for the various parks here, or when we get there ?

Have you considered it's hurricane season in the Caribbean until November?
Not 100% sure where is cheapest, but in my opinion, the best family oriented parks are all the Disney ones - Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, MGM, and the water parks. I think the tickets are universal - once you're in one park, you just catch a monorail to another one.

From a personal point of view I find the Disney parks a little dated now, much better are the Universal parks, however I'm not a 7YO girl (anymore alas) so The Magic Kingdom is a must. Not a fan of Sea World at all and the food in there is appalling but if she loves animals then Animal Kingdom may be the perfect place for her if Disney turn out to be your parks of choice.

I've been there a lot and we always buy our passes at the gate there, there aren't huge savings to be made by buying them over here or from dodgy stands on I-Drive.

Hope you have a great time!!

Excellent - thank you !!

They make a big big effort to pressure you into buying multi-day passes in advance. First time we found a little Disney went a long way and the prospect of spending day after day of our holiday queueing for hours for a few minutes rides quickly palled. Later trips we bought day tickets as and when we wanted.

One time we rented a house nearby with a private pool and every morning when we got up and discussed goind to a theme park, our sons preferred just playing in the pool. We visited two parks, spending a day in each, and had a good time. But they didn't want to spend longer there.
