A lot depends on what you intend to do in Iceland.
You will need some warm clothes if you are going to spend time in the frozen food section.
We went in late May and it was chuffing freezing.
The clue was in the name, LadyCG.
Bloody hell, Hopkirk, how did I miss that?
Take an assortment of clothes. Certainly a nice warm coat and boots - and a hat and gloves - but the Icelanders are very good at insulating their buildings are it's often very warm inside so layers are best under your coat.
Silk underclothes, but a bit expensive, & you might need the money there; a glass, (half litre) of beer costs seven quid !
Yes ... it is expensive to eat and drink.
calling it "Iceland" failed to attract many settlers. It's no wonder the next land mass was labelled "Greenland"
expensive indeed as in very expensive. A bloody good jacket and boots if you are going to be outside, layers inside as the heating is usually abundant - in Reykjavik, they have a thermal hot water system using 'geyser power'. Think 4C to -2 with it possibly going down to - 5. Can be quite wet/snow - and also dark what with 4-5 hours of daylight only.
I heard that Icelanders get free heating for their homes - anyone know if this is true?
I pass on a useful tip whether you are going to Iceland or not; Mrs K. bought me a black V-neck pullover, it is thin, light, feels luxuriously soft and is incredibly warm, I couldn't understand why this was, so looked at the label to find it's made from '100% pure Geelong' looked that up on the internet to find it is wool from a special Australian sheep which comes from that region - though the pullover was made in Scotland by a firm called barrie (sic).

If I was going to Iceland it would be my first thing to pack :0)
Buy yourself some nice beach clothes and swimwear. Light eveningwear and some sunglasses.

Oh, and by the way, cancel your ticket to Iceland - it seems a cold and inhospitable place - and go somewhere warm and sunny.
£1500 for a jumper, Khandro. Hope you hand wash it

Ye gods! is that what she paid ? I hope I'm worth it :0)
