Will my insurance go up if i fit an induction kit??

HI, not really a travel question but its abouit my car. I fancy fitting an induction kit on my car (sorry i know its sad but it make sa nice sound - tryied a mates) My question is will it cause my car insurance to go up seeing as ive messed with the orginal set up or am i just being too careful as its not a major car mod?

Unfortunately any change from the normal spec of a car is treated as a modification - and liable to increased premiums. If you take a risk and crash/car is nicked and the company find out, they may refuse to pay up! The best thing to do is find an insurer who specialises in these things!

Not usually by much but it does sound MUCH nicer and tempts theives, makes you want to hit the pedal more and adds a few bhp. I think a mate of mine owned up to using one and his went up an extra �20 a year.

I've just put one on my car and my insurance did go up because I also fitted a performance exhust which (stupidly) counts as a stage 1 mod! I'm sure stage one included other uprated parts though... But don't let this deter you! the extra power and fantastic sound more than compensate for the additional expense!!

Me agian - thanks for all youre help on the above and the anwser is that my insurace will go up - by 40quid (asked them coz its now fitted!!) - but like you say it will be worth it for the sound and extra power. but i look at it as 76 p a week rather than 40 - :D
