If anyone is interested in signing the Scottish Parliament e-petition against bridge tolls would they please click here for details.


Many thanks. Ps although this is directed at the Scottish problem it is non-the-less a National Issue. I'll attempt to post more details later.

Although I do not live in Scotland I added my name to this petition. I did this because I agree with ianess that it is a national issue.


My particular bone of contention is the exorbitant tolls on the Humber Bridge which now has a debt of over �300m. The income from tolls does not cover servicing this debt and , of course, it actually discourages locals visiting the other side of the river.


There are many examples overseas where bridges have started off with tolls each way. These have then been limited to one way toll only and eventually discarded altogether. Mainly for the reason I have stated, it is virtually impossible to pay off this debt.


There should be no toll bridges within the UK as they should all be part of the national road network.


I would support this thread and ask others to do so.
